Infection prevention and control and WASH: developing a unique training package for health workers in Malawi – project learning

Our journey to develop a novel IPC-WASH learning package for frontline healthcare workers began in 2020, in recognition of how crucial WASH is to quality healthcare. The development of this innovative training package was designed to bridge the gap between water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and infection prevention and control (IPC), with the aim of supporting safe healthcare for all.

As a first step to informing the training package, a process to identify what was available and to highlight gaps in the availability and suitability of targeted training resources was performed.

Finally, as we concluded this training package, we prepared a project process evaluation report, to allow others to learn from this and consider how they might adopt a similar approach in their own countries. Read more about this WaterAid project!
