The relevance of nursing to the achievement of person-centred infection prevention and control

Our opinion paper, published at the end of 2024, addressed the role of nurses and the relevance of models and theories, both nursing and IPC, with a focus on person-centredness.

It suggests that IPC guidance, rooted in a historic biomedical model, has not tended to consider the impact that the precautionary measures it recommends has on the quality of life of people receiving health care, but rather the impact that the infections themselves have.
